Roasted

Roasted comes from a stand-up comedy “buddy” (really he was just a dude I met one night and went out drinking with after our show.) We walked the streets with other comedians and picked up food from a hot-dog vendor before moving onto the next bar. We laughed, we drank, we complimented each other, and insecurely tried to impress everyone in the group. Comedians are desperate to be validated.

Anyway, I cannot for the life of me remember the context of this quote, but it came so far out of left-field that it had the rest of us in stitches. I want to say that one of the comedians we were with was a very clever person, but rude and often mean — one of those insult-type comics which is great and all… but he didn’t have the ability to turn it off when he wasn’t on stage. Anyway the other guy had respect or maybe idolized this guy, but as the night went on and the dude kept ripping everyone, my “buddy” dropped this line and I haven’t forgotten it.
